Alter Bridge releasing new album October 8th

September 2nd, 2010

This is news that should make mouths happy as well as ears. Alter Bridge is releasing their new album, entitled AB III, on October 8th.

The band has also announced that they just signed with Roadrunner Records. This will be their first release with the label. No single has been selected yet but the tracklisting is down below.

Currently, singer Myles Kennedy is on the road with Slash as the singer of his touring band. Sadly, the instrumental members of AB are backing Scott Stapp under the moniker Creed. I feel so bad for Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall. They don’t deserve that kind of pain.

Alter Bridge are planning on a tour starting in October right after the album comes out. It’s also been announced that a spring 2011 tour with Godsmack is being planned for next March. Get excited, people! October 8th is not that far away.

AB III track listing

1. Slip To The Void
2. Isolation
3. Ghost Of Days Gone By
4. All Hope Is Gone
5. Still Remains
6. Make It Right
7. Wonderful Life
8. I Know It Hurts
9. Show Me A Sign
10. Fallout
11. Breathe Again
12. Coeur D’Alene
13. Life Must Go On
14. Words Darker Than Their Wings

Listen: Linkin Park – “Wretches And Kings”

September 2nd, 2010

Where the hell has this song been hiding?! Why did Linkin Park release “The Catalyst” as the first single?! Why am I ending every sentence with a question mark AND an exclamation point?! All I can tell you guys is that this new LP song actually makes me feel a little better.

Thanks to our buds at Some Kind Of Awesome, we bring you “Wretches And Kings,” the new single from A Thousand Suns. It’s definitely got a MUCH better beat and is way more catchy than that miserable first single. Plus, since when did Chester Bennington find his rasta roots? His vocals in this song are a bit odd at first listen but they do kinda grow on you.

The new album is out September 14th and hopefully more of this album has this harder rock/hip-hop vibe to it. I may actually consider recommending it to you. Check out the song down below.

Dublin, Ireland hates Axl Rose

September 1st, 2010

I have no clue what it is about the UK/Ireland region of the world but recently there’s been an extreme love/hate relationship with Axl Rose…although it’s leaning a bit more towards hate as of now.

Dateline: Dublin, Ireland. The O2 arena is packed to the gills with drunken Irish Guns n’ Roses fans ready to get their bollocks rocked by Axl and the crew. But, like he did at Reading and Leeds, the band arrived on stage an hour and 20 minutes late.

Entertainment.ie reports that once the band got on stage at 10:20 p.m., they only played for 20 minutes before Axl addressed the crowd as they were starting to play “Welcome To The Jungle.” This was done because some of those pissed off Dubliners decided to show their frustration and sling bottles at the stage and directly at Axl. He even warned the crowd that if another bottle was thrown, they would leave. To which, another bottle was hurled at the stage after another three songs were played. Now while I think that this is a bit of a bitch move, I can also see where they’re coming from. But you went to a GnR show; did you not expect this to happen?

O2 officials went on stage to try an address an already booing crowd, claiming technical difficulties which only raised the ire of Ireland even more. At 11:10 p.m., the house lights were turned up as the majority of the crowd went home. But at 11:25, the band returned to play the rest of their set to a much smaller crowd.

Down below you can see video of the incident and the crowd’s reaction to the whole affair. I was told by fans who were in attendance that Axl was hurling quite a few obscenities about Dubliners after the show was over. I guess it’s safe to say that GnR won’t be heading back to the emerald isle anytime soon. My guess, however, is that most of the crowd went to a pub, got piss drunk, sang along to some classic GnR on the jukebox and then passed out somewhere. Ah, Ireland. I really must visit sometime soon.

Coldplay unveil new song

Apple releases new music social networking site

Arcade Fire release interactive music video

The Pass – “Vultures”

Watch: Coldplay – “Wedding Bells”

September 1st, 2010

I know there are a lot of you that aren’t fans of Coldplay…but there’s a lot of you that are as well. So I, being the balanced rock blogger that I am, must deliver the news regardless of your fandom and bring you this story. Coldplay’s Chris Martin has given us a new song called “Wedding Bells.” (via OneThirtyBPM)

Martin played the song at today’s Apple Keynote Address where Apple announced the creation of the new music social networking platform called Ping. After a few bad jokes, Martin plays a piano and sings about always loving someone and he how he always will. He also points out that he’s not sure if the song will make it onto Coldplay’s new album so this may be the only time you hear it. So for all you non-Coldplay fans, you can appreciate that fact.

Watch: The Pass – “Vultures”

September 1st, 2010

The Pass are a band that I’ve promoted before on the RiO!B and with good reason. They’re a catchy, upbeat indie-rock band, they just released a kick-ass music video and they’re playing my CMJ party in October.

In the case of this music video, it’s fun for more than the music. Zach from the great website, We Listen For You, created the video and also turned it into a game. Within the video, there are 30 references to other music blogs from around the web. If you can spot all of them, you’ll win a copy of the band’s new album, Burst, and a $50 gift certificate to Insound.

Again, these guys are playing the Rock it Out! Blog CMJ party in October. More details about that coming soon but I can tell you from now that it’s going to be insane.

Download: Paramore – “Careful”

August 31st, 2010

For a while now, the oh so lovely and talented Hayley Williams and her band, Paramore, have been headlining the Honda Civic tour and brought along Tegan & Sara and New Found Glory along for the ride. So the good folks at Honda reached out to us here at the RiO!B and asked us (with money) if we could promote the rest of the tour. They were also nice enough to hook up up with Paramore’s new single, “Careful,” for you to download!

If you still haven’t checked out the song yet, it’s another smash from the Nashville rockers. Check it out down below first and then just click here to make it all yours forever and ever…or until your computer crashes.

Meanwhile, if you still haven’t checked them out on the road yet, you can consider yourself brain dead. But the cure for the deadness is by trying to make it to some of the final shows of the Honda Civic tour. You can see all the rest of their tour dates here. Also, be sure to head to the Honda Civic Facebook page where you can send your virtual friends some gifts to prove you both have love for Paramore.
