Yusuf Islam vs. Coldplay
Seriously WTF?! How many people are going to sue Coldplay for their song “Viva la Vida” before someone declares victory? First it was the Brooklyn, NY rock band The Creaky Stairs. Then it was Joe Satriani who said they ripped off his song “If I Could Fly”. The plagiarism suit is currently in court in California.
Now Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens is calling out Chris Martin & Co. saying that “Viva la Vida” ripped off his song “Foreigner Suite”. However Islam has won suits like this before including one with The Flaming Lips where they decided to split royalities for the Lips song “Fight Test” after it was deemed similar to Islam’s song “Father and Son”.
Anyone wanna take bets as to who sues Coldplay next?
