R.I.P. Manny’s Music

The last remaining vestibule of rock and roll in Times Square is officially saying goodbye. Manny’s Music, which has been in New York since 1935, has been a place where you could find great instrument buys, a cool staff of people working there and rock stars strolling in to buy instruments right before a gig.
For those of you that have never been to NYC then this story might not mean much but to us east coasters who have been to that shrine to music with the walls covered in personalized autographed photos ranging from Jimi Hendrix to The Beatles to The Who, this is kind of a big deal. It started out as a place where session musicians used to record and gradually became a store and a hangout spot for rockers
The 48th st. staple is currently sandwiched in between different sections of Sam Ash which currently owns Manny’s. I advise everyone to break out their guitars and softly play Taps in honor of Manny’s. Thanks for all the good times!
