New Linkin Park in 2010

Mike Shinoda has come out and said that a new Linkin Park record will see the light of day in 2010 according to an interview with Billboard.
Shinoda said “I feel like we’ve been writing a lot. I’d say we’ve got about half the music done, though I shouldn’t say halfway because who knows how long the next batch of songs will take. But all the material’s just kind of coming together, and every week we meet up and assess the situation and for the rest of the week we just go and work on whatever we find exciting.”
The band has also selected a producer for the new album but they haven’t revealed that information yet. And since singer Chester Bennington’s solo record, Dead by Sunrise, comes out this summer and is “much more of a rock album” according to Shinoda, that leaves the band room to experiment with new sounds.
Shinoda said “It’s not going to be Minutes to Midnight. And if we do it right, it’ll have a cutting edge sound that defines itself as an individual record separate from anything else that’s out there.”
LP’s new song, “New Divide”, is available for download on iTunes and is the theme song for the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which hits theaters in June.
