Exene Cervenka diagnosed with MS

Exene Cervenka, lead singer of the punk rock band X, has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The disease is one that attacks the body’s central nervous system which can cause physical disability.

Cervenka released a statement today addressing her health. She said that “after some months of not feeling 100 percent healthy, I recently had some medical tests run and the prognosis is that I am suffering from multiple sclerosis.” However, Cervenka refuses to give up on music.

She goes on to say in her statement that MS “will not affect my commitments to the current X U.S. tour, nor will it affect my solo album that is slated for release this fall on Bloodshot Records.” Cervenka also cited the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund which is a charity that aids uninsured artists that was started by musician Victoria Williams back in 1992 when she was diagnosed with MS.
