At The Drive-In may reunite

Now if you’re up on your current rock band lineups, you’ll know that Omar-Rodriguez Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala are the main men in a group known as The Mars Volta and Tony Hajjar, Jim Ward and Paul Hinojos fomed the band Sparta. But once upon a time there was a band from Texas that featured all these gents and it was called At The Drive-In.

The band went on indefinite hiatus (I really loathe that term) back in 2001 and ATDI fans having been praying and wishin’ and hopin’ for a reunion. While Bixler-Zavala takes responsibility for the band splitting up, he recently made a comment to Drowned in Sound that may finally let Drive-In fans see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Bixler-Zavala, when asked about reuniting ATDI for a lot of money, said “We’ve been making amends with a lot of the members and having some really good talks with them. And we’ve been trying to get our financial business in order because a lot of people have been ripping off that band really badly…as far as the business side goes.”

Now while making amends is nice does that mean a reunion is in the cards? “I wouldn’t mind it. Y’know, it might happen, we just have to iron out a lot of personal things. A lot of it we’ve dealt with already and I’ve apologised for a lot of things I’ve said and the way it ended…we’ll see what happens.”

So while you keep your fingers crossed for that reunion, save some of your cash for The Mars Volta’s new album, Octahedron, which hits stores on June 23rd.
