NIN play last U.S. show at Bonnaroo

“It just dawned on me that this is our last show ever in the United States. Don’t be sad. I’ll keep going. But I think I’m going to lose my … mind if I keep doing this, and I have to stop.”

These were the words spoken by Trent Reznor, according to the Associated Press, while on stage at the Bonnaroo festval this weekend. The show was an early morning performance right after Bruce Springsteen was on stage.

This shouldn’t be anything new since on the NIN website, Reznor said that the band would be “disappearing for a while”. He was reflecting on the fact that 2009 was the 20th anniversary of his debut album Pretty Hate Machine. “I’ve been thinking for some time now it’s time to make NIN disappear for a while. Last year’s Lights in the Sky tour was something I’m quite proud of and seems like the culmination of what I could pull off in terms of an elaborate production,” Reznor said. “It was also quite difficult to pull off technically and physically night after night and left us all a bit dazed. After some thought, we decided to book a last run of shows across the globe this year.”

Not to mention his upcoming outing in Europe and Asia is called the Wave Goodbye Tour which pretty much puts the final nine inch nail in the coffin.

We’ll miss you, Trent! Please feel free to drop by anytime and play a surprise show for us whenever you feel like it.
