The Flaming Lips are releasing a double album
Wayne Coyne, the mad genius of Oklahoma, and his band The Flaming Lips are releasing a double album called Embryonic in the fall.
Coyne talked about the new record(s) to the BBC’s 6 Music Blog. He said that the songs came from lengthy jam sessions but has said that picking the songs to be on the album has been difficult. “Because we want to go in so many strange directions and sometimes we’re unfocused and sometimes we’re just so wishy washy.”
Embryonic doesn’t have a tracklisting yet nor an official release date. And even though the Lips have released quite a few records, Coyne still admitted to getting nervous right before releasing a new album. “It’s great and thrilling but kind of scary because you just don’t know if it’s going to work.”
The Flaming Lips last album was 2006′s At War With The Mystics.
