Evanescence members form new band with an American Idol

Remember Evanescence? Remember how they were the biggest band on the planet when their first album, Fallen, came out? Then remember how all the members of the band got booted from the group by Amy Lee? Ah the memories.
Well it turns out that former Evanescence members Ben Moody, John LeCompt and Rocky Gray have formed a new band called The Fallen and have tapped American Idol season seven finalist (and Amy Lee lookalike?) Carly Simonson to be the frontwoman. The band name refers to the Evanescence album that the three members all played on before Moody left.
The Fallen are launching their website, wearethefallen.com, on June 22nd with a press conference, a performance and they’ll debut a new song called “Bury Me Alive”. You can check out an interview with Carly and Ben about the new band with the Los Angeles Times right here.
As for Evanescence, Amy Lee released a statement on the band’s Myspace blog making her own announcement addressing Ben Moody and her music. “I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don’t see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before.”
I smell a rock and roll battle!
