Klaxons want to record the album of the next decade

Indie-rave rockers Klaxons have been working on the follow-up to their debut album Myths of the Near Future since 2007 and they plan to release it in the next decade according to Spin.com.

A few months ago, label bosses told the band to re-record their sophomore album because they deemed it too experimental and too psychedelic. Speaking to BBC’s 6 Music, founder of the band Jamie Reynolds talked about the new recording process. “We’ve taken it to the next stage and it’s rawer and simpler and as we were at our best. We’ve stripped the complication and we’re back to being raucous.”

The band was previously working with David Bowie producer Tony Visconti and at one point had Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford working on some tracks. However now, according to Reynolds, they’re flying solo and looking for help. “We’ve now got 28 songs and we’re just about to put it together as a complete record. We’re looking for a producer and if anyone out there makes records, give us a bell.”

If you’re looking forward to have this album in your collection then you may have to wait til next year. “We’d really like to put out the first great record of the 2010s rather than the last great one of this decade. Now that’s become an aspiration and a goal,” Reynolds said.

Lofty goal, lads. I hear the next ten years may bring quite a few good records. Good luck.
