The Killers releasing a covers album

The Killers have been quite the busy band this year. Between the new album Day & Age, touring, playing on television and proclaiming that they want to be America’s biggest band, they still found time to do one more project. A covers album.
Spin.com (via NME.com) is reporting that the Killers are recording an album full of covers that they plan on finishing by the end of the year. Brandon Flowers said in the interview with NME that “It’s something that we’ve always talked about doing.”
As for what songs they plan on covering? That’s a decision that’s going to take a bit of thought. “It’s difficult for each of us to pick songs that represent us as individuals,” Flowers said. “I mean, I have a lot of personalities myself! I’ve gone through everything from Neil Diamond to the Cars.”
However, drummer Ronnie Vannucci has his sights set on songs from Genesis, Tom Waits, Cyndi Lauper and Iggy Pop. He’s also been “messing around with a couple of Fleet Foxes songs.”
