The return of the Red Hot Chili Peppers

This is some pretty amazing news. In the recent history of amazing this ranks up there along with 2 am trips to Sonic and sex without a condom. Billboard.com is reporting that Red Hot Chili Peppers will be ending their two-year hiatus this coming October.
RHCP/Chickenfoot drummer Chad Smith spoke with Billboard about the band’s upcoming plans to get back together. “Everybody was like, ‘Y’know, I really like having this time off, not being a Chili Pepper and doing other things…It’ll be two years in September, so now we’re ready. You can’t force people to play when they don’t want to play or aren’t ready to play or whatever — not in our band, anyway.”
Chad didn’t reveal any news on a new album because the band doesn’t even know who’ll be producing the record but it’s assumed they’ll go back to superproducer Rick Rubin. As for how they plan on writing new material, Chad said that Flea and John Frusciante may bring some ideas but the guys would probably “do a lot of improvising and jamming and songs will come out of that, too. That’s what we usually do. I don’t know why it would be different.”
Chad is still on tour with Chickenfoot and is working on releasing an album with his instrumental project Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats.
