Teenage Bottlerocket – Skate or Die

I had no idea anything cool came out of Wyoming. I just figured it was a part of the Forgotten States like Montana and New Hampshire. Luckily I came across a band that has put Wyoming back on my map, so to speak.
The band Teenage Bottlerocket embraces one sound. 1970′s NYC punk-rock. Fast, sharp, loud, crazy. They just signed to Fat Wreck which is headed up by Fat Mike of NOFX and they’re about ready to release their fourth full-length entitled They Came From the Shadows on September 15th. Down below you can check out one of the songs from that album called “Skate or Die”.
You can download the song over at Spin.com where lead singer Kody Templeman talked about the inspiration behind the tune. “When I was growing up and getting into punk rock, it went hand-in-hand with skateboarding,” he said. “['Skate or Die'] is an homage to that whole scene when it was joined together, whereas now punk rock and skateboarding are kind of at ends with each other.”
To this day I’m scared to death of jumping on a board for fear that I’ll bust my ass in front of a hottie who’ll just laugh and point. But listening to this song makes me wish I had enough balls to know how to skate. Check it out.
