R.I.P. Les Paul

Les Paul, the man whose name is probably on a guitar you either own or really want to own, has died at the age of 94 years old. It was reported by CNN that Paul died at his home in White Plains, NY due to complications of pneumonia.

Paul was an innovator in the studio as he brought about the idea of multitrack recording and tape delay but was most known for revolutionizing the electric guitar with the solid body he built and offered to to Gibson back in the 1930′s. They wouldn’t take his version of the guitar until 1952 when Fender started becoming a bigger rival.

Paul was also a musician and performed at clubs even in his 90′s. He had a regular gig at the Iridium Jazz Club in NYC and I wish I would’ve went to a show before he passed.

Rest in peace, Les Paul. Thanks for the music.
