Karen O’s soundtrack are where the wild things are

For a couple years, some friends of mine have sworn up and down that I look like Max from Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are. Well we’ll see how much of a resemblance I hold come October 16th when the movie of the same name hits theaters. But I’ll not be going to the film just to see if I’m looking in a mirror. I’ll also be going to enjoy the soundtrack behind the images.

The movie boasts a soundtrack that some would call indie-tastic. Indie-nomenal. Ep-die (a combination of Epic and Indie. Feel free to start using that one.) The reason behind this soundtrack hype? It’s because Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs composed the music with the help of her “Kids”. Who are these kids? Read on, oh curious one.

The “kids” are in fact other major players within indie music. They comprise of Nick Zinner and Brian Chase of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence of The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs, Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, Greg Kurstin of The Bird and The Bee, Aaron Hemphill from Liars, Oscar Michel of Gris Gris and Imaad Wasif of New Folk Explosion and Alaska. Plus there’s an untrained children’s choir that will also lend their voices. See, there were some real kids involved after all. The first single, “All is Love”, will come out digitally on August 25th.

Check out the trailer down below which features music from Arcade Fire who are not on the soundtrack. Awww they’re like the kids on the playground who just sit on the side and talk to their imaginary friend. Poor Canadians.
