Bob Dylan might be in your car

While a GPS system in your car can come in handy, the stock voice on the navigation system can be a bit annoying. A computerized woman repeatedly telling me to turn left can really get aggravating (I’m a NJ driver and we’re aggressive already) but I’m not sure if this new idea will calm me down or piss me off even more.

Legendary folk-rocker Bob Dylan is in talks with car companies to be the voice of their GPS systems, according to our friends at TwentyFourBit. Dylan made the announcement on his Theme Time Radio Hour and gave a preview of what he would sound like while giving you directions. “Left at the next street. No, right. You know what? Just go straight. I probably shouldn’t do it because whichever way I go, I always end up at one place – on Lonely Avenue. Luckily I’m not totally alone. Ray Charles beat me there.”

I appreciate Bob Dylan as much as the next man but have you heard this man speak? I’m surprised he still has a radio show and now he wants to give directions? While he would be a lot less annoying than the female version of H.A.L. that I already have, at least she is understandable. Much luck to anyone who decides to have Dylan’s voice navigate them to their destinations if this deal goes through. I hope you planned to have a long drive ahead of you.
