Death Cab for Cutie write New Moon single

Let me remind everyone, before I begin writing this post, that I loathe the book series and the film series Twilight. I just don’t understand all the hype over it and don’t try to convince me to read it or watch it because I’ll probably just punch you in the knee. That being said, the soundtrack for the Twilight sequel New Moon is starting to look real good.
With artists like Thom Yorke, Bon Iver, Muse and Band of Skulls rumored to be on the record, this soundtrack is gearing up to be a indie vampire’s dream. But now it’s been confirmed that Death Cab for Cutie will definitely be on the soundtrack and they’ll release the first single called “Meet Me on the Equinox”. The song will debut on September 13th during the MTV Video Music Awards which is a perfect setting.
Bassist Nick Harmer talked about why the band wanted to be a part of this record. “It just seemed a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film and we are proud to be a part of the ‘Twilight’ legacy.”
The New Moon soundtrack will be in stores on October 20th.
