Coldplay settles with Satriani

The case of the plagiarized song between Coldplay and Joe Satriani has finally come to a conclusion. It was old man Fleming! He would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for that meddling justice system.
Seriously, though, our buddy at TwentyFourBit is reporting that Coldplay and Joe Satriani have finally settled their dispute in court. For those of you that don’t know the story, Joe Satriani accused Coldplay of plagiarism when he said their song “Viva La Vida” was a rip off of his song “If I Could Fly”.
The lawsuit was dismissed by the judge “upon Stipulation” and that “each party bears his own cost.” Now for those of you that don’t speak law allow me to translate. Stipulation means that the two parties involved in the suit came to an undisclosed agreement. If you guys want to read the actual case docket, you can check it out here.
I wonder what their agreement was? Do they have to go to each others shows and pretend to act like they’re having a good time? Do they have to buy 50 copies of each others album? Have tea with Cat Stevens? That would be an interesting conversation.
