Temple of the Dog reunite to play “Hunger Strike”

Wow! Why the hell was I not at this show? Last night Pearl Jam played at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles, CA and the gave the audience a huge surprise. Eddie Vedder invited Chris Cornell to come on stage and sing the song “Hunger Strike” with the lineup of Temple of the Dog backing him up (via Rolling Stone).

Temple of the Dog – which is Cornell, Vedder, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Matt Cameron and Mike McCready – were formed after the lead singer of the band Mother Love Bone, Andrew Wood, passed away. The remaining members of the band would hire Eddie Vedder as the new lead singer and go on to form Pearl Jam. Cornell got involved because he was Andrew Wood’s roommate. The band would only record one album. The last time that all the members of Temple were together on stage was back in 2003 when they performed “Hunger Strike” and “Reach Down”.

I know that Johnny Firecloud from Antiquiet was at this show and I can only imagine he’ll be writing one hell of a review (UPDATE: he did and it’s right here). For now watch the video up top and enjoy the goodness that is Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder on stage together.
