Cake goes green for new album

Cake is awesome. Both the food and the band but in this case I’m talking about the band. The guys are gearing up to release their sixth studio album next year and they’re going about it in a different way. They recorded their new, untitled album in a studio converted to be completely green by running entirely on solar power (via Consequence of Sound).
Cake documented the entire process at their website and talked about why it was so important for them to do this. ““We work in the spirit of cooperation, and when there is something like solar energy above your head, there is a little bit more levity added,” trumpeter Vince DiFiore said.
And that’s not all Cake is doing to get ready for their new release. Starting yesterday, you can sign up for an email list that will give you access to free Cake ringtones of their brand new songs. The first one is called “Long Time” and it’ll be available to you if you sign up for the mailing list.
The new album is expected to come out in the spring of 2010.
