Jack White says no to Slash

Slash’s upcoming solo album has all the makings of the biggest rock n’ roll party on earth. Everyone from Dave Grohl to Ozzy Osbourne to Flea will be making an appearance on Slash & Friends which sounds more like a bad NBC variety show than an album title. But the one man that Slash really wanted on his record turned him down. That man was Jack White.
In an interview with MusicRadar (via NME) Slash said that the Dead Weather drummer/Raconteurs & White Stripes frontman was hesitant to sing on the album. “”I wanted to get Jack White to sing on something, but he didn’t want to sing. He said I’ll play drums, I’ll play guitar, but I don’t wanna sing. He was one guy that I wanted to work with. Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get.”
I really can’t blame Jack much for pulling this move. Does he really want to have vocals on an album that Fergie is also singing on? Although it would have been cool to have Slash do a bluesy rock track with Jack on vocals.
Slash & Friends is expected to hit stores in early 2010.
