The Who are playing the Super Bowl?

So it’s just come to my attention from our buds over at TwentyFourBit that a source at Sports Illustrated has released the following information: The Who will play the halftime show at the Super Bowl.
Nothing has been confirmed by the NFL on this matter but they did release a statement. “When we have something to announce, we’ll announce it.” But it makes sense that a band like the Who would play the halftime show. Let’s look at the previous artists of the last few years. Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and Prince have all graced our televisions on Super Sunday. So to have The Who fill this year’s slot seems fitting with the trend they’ve gone with ever since Janet Jackson’s boobie made a half second appearance on network TV.
This is cool news but its got me wondering about something. Would there be any band not deemed classic rock that is up to the task of entertaining almost a billion people at the same time? Not to mention a band that the whole family/sports bar can enjoy? Until that super new band comes along, prepare to catch up on the Greatest Hits that these classic bands have to offer while wolfing down hot wings.
