The Strokes recording in January?

Now that Julian Casablancas has gotten his jollies by recording his own solo work, its been hinted at by members of the band that New York’s hip five will head back into the studio to work on a new full-length Strokes LP.

TwentyFourBit reports that bassist Nikolai Fraiture recently tweeted the following message: “While the guys are in LA, I went to scout some studios in NYC with Ryan today for what looks like Jan recording!!! mood = f***ing excited!” While a twitter message like this would definitely illicit excitement from Strokes fans, don’t start jumping for joy just yet.

Julian told Pitchfork a while back that the band is, “…supposed to get back together in January but don’t hold me to that. We’ve been trying to do it for years.” Hopefully, though, with the fact that NME and Consequence of Sound gave the Strokes the title of best album of the decade, January will indeed be the time we get some new music cranking out of an NYC studio.
