Liam may call the new band Oasis

Just when we thought there couldn’t possibly be anymore drama in the Liam/Noel Gallagher split, Liam goes and suggests somethin’ crazy. Turns out that when Liam forms his new band he may keep the name Oasis as opposed to a new name.

Liam spoke to NME (via Prefix) about the new band and the possibility of not changing the band name. “We’re not using it [the Oasis name] at the moment, but if we don’t come up with something else by the time we’re ready to release the album it’ll be Oasis. I’m not going to call myself something ridiculous just for the sake of it.”

Liam said that the new band, which is comprised of himself and bandmates Gem Archer and Andy Bell, is already on a roll as far as the new album is concerned. “We’re halfway there. We’ve got all the songs done. We’ve got a bit of studio time booked after Christmas and we’re going to get in there, do it quick, with no stewing on it.”

The new “Oasis” would also not play any Noel written songs when playing live. As far as Noel goes, Liam wants nothing to do with his guitarist-brother. “I’m sure he thinks [of Liam], ‘I’ll do my solo career and if it doesn’t fucking pan out the way it’s expected I’ll give our kid [Noel] a ring because he’ll be desperate and he’ll do anything for Oasis,” said Liam. “Well, I’ll say this right now: he’s got another fucking thing coming. If he thinks he can ring me up at any given stage in his fucking lifetime, I’ll be busy. I’ll always be busy when he rings me up.”

Harsh words…and Christmas is right around the corner. Will there be no holiday magic between the Gallaghers?
