John Frusciante quits RHCP?

If this story is actually true then it makes me a little sad to even write this. It’s being reported by multiple sites that guitarist John Frusciante has quit playing for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
TwentyFourBit started putting the pieces together by compiling reports from a few sites like Buddyhead which stated that “our buddy Josh Klinghoffer is the new guitar player in Red Hot Chili Peppers.”
Other sites like Buzzbands.LA have reported that “Red Hot Chili Peppers are writing music for a 10th album, but without John Frusciante. Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who toured with the Peppers as a second axeman (and who also has played with Gnarls Barkley, Beck and PJ Harvey), is involved.”
Another report from Musicradar is citing a “source close to the band” who said that “Josh Klinghoffer has been playing with the group for a couple of months now. Optimistically, the Peppers are trying to lock down a replacement for John, who has apparently quit.”
So while there’s been no official word from the Peppers yet, it can only be assumed that the funky axeman has indeed parted ways with RHCP. If this is the case, we here at the RiO!B wish John all the best of luck…not like he needs it from us but still we send our best.
