Rage Against The Machine returns!

The following message is from guitarist Tom Morello’s twitter page:
LIVE RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE PERFORMANCE AND INTERVIEW. 8:50am sharp, UK time. BBC radio. Baton down the hatches. IT’S ON.
Apparently the fever for Rage Against The Machine has gotten so crazy that the only prescription is a RATM performance and interview!
Because of the campaign to get the song “Killing In The Name” to be the number one song at Christmastime in the U.K., the band will be performing live at 8:50 am U.K. time on BBC Radio 5. So all it took for Rage to get back together was people teaming up on facebook to buy their song? Why the hell didn’t we do this years ago?
At last count the competitor for the number one spot Joe McElderry, who was this year’s X-Factor winner, was trailing RATM by 65,000 records. His CD, which was a cover of the Miley Cyrus song “The Climb”, was released in stores throughout the U.K. today but so far it’s not looking like he’s going to overtake America’s political rap-rockers.
What a way to cap off 2009. A reunited Rage Against The Machine performing live across the pond? My hat goes off to the Brits for this move. So does this mean that Zach De La Rocha and the crew will bring that energy back to the states for 2010? One can only hope.
UPDATE: So Rage Against The Machine played a live version of their song “Killing In The Name” on BBC Radio 5 this morning and were abruptly cut off when Zach De La Rocha began singing the familiar refrain “Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me”.
Co-host of the show (and annoying hag) Shelagh Fogerty was heard in the background saying “get rid of it!” before fading out the group. She then proceeded to get on the mic and tell the listening audience to go out and “buy Joe’s (McElderry) record”. If this doesn’t inspire the UK audience to continue buying Rage’s song then I don’t know what will. Check out the full interview, song and abrupt cut off down below.
