Stone Temple Pilots almost finished with new album

Some good news for people who can’t get enough of the 90′s rock resurgence. Stone Temple Pilots are nearly done with their brand new album.
Scott Weiland recently spoke to Spinner about the new Don Was produced record. “There will probably be 11 songs on the record and we have nine completed already. Then you have to have B-sides for Japan, the UK and the rest of Europe, so we’ll probably record 14 songs total.”
This album reunites Weiland with the DeLeo brothers who were the chief songwriters in the band. “We have a method that we use and it’s pretty basic,” Weiland said. “For the most part, Robert and Dean [DeLeo] write the instrumental riffs and then amongst the three of us we arrange the songs and then I write all the melodies and the lyrics.”
As far as live shows are concerned, Weiland is ready to reveal his new songs to audiences. “It’ll make it a lot more fun and gratifying because I know the fans love to hear the hits, but it’s a more fun playing stuff you just wrote.”
There’s no tracklisting yet nor is there a release date but the band is hoping to unveil the new album in the spring of 2010.
