American Idiot on Broadway this April

Rock fans and musical lovers can rejoice over the news that Green Day’s epic album turned stage show, American Idiot, will take over Broadway on April 20, 2010.
It’s been announced that the show will open at the St. James Theater with previews starting on March 24th. So far there’s been no cast announcements as of yet. The show, which had a brief but successful run at the Berkeley Repertory Theater in California, starred Tony Award winning actor John Gallagher in the main role. It’s being directed by Michael Mayer who previously directed the show Spring Awakening.
I’m just curious to see how many tween and teen punks show up to the performance wearing all black with a red skinny tie and an armband clutching a bleeding heart. Not to mention with songs like “Wake Me Up When September Ends” and “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” in the show, this could also mark the first time people put their cell phones up in the air at a Broadway musical.
When the show was playing in California they made a trailer for it which you can check out here. Green Day also teamed up with the cast to record a Broadway version of their Grammy nominated song “21 Guns” which you can listen to here.
