New Jimi Hendrix album out in March

Everybody, at some point, wishes that their favorite dead rock star would come back from the grave to release some new material. Fans of Jimi Hendrix are about to get their wish. A new album called Valleys of Neptune, which features unreleased studio tracks, will be available in stores on March 9th.
Hendrix’s sister, Janie, is producing the album which also features the guitar god’s covers of “Bleeding Heart” and Cream’s “Sunshine Of Your Love” in addition to new recordings of Hendrix classics including “Fire”, “Red House” and “Stone Free”. There are also brand new tracks including the title track, “Lullaby For The Summer” and “Crying Blue Rain”.
“My brother Jimi was at home in the studio. Valleys of Neptune offers deep insight into his mastery of the recording process and demonstrates the fact that he was as unparalleled a recording innovator as he was a guitarist,” said Janie Hendrix. “His brilliance shines through on every one of these precious tracks.”
2010 marks the 40th anniversary of Jimi’s death and it proves to be a year of resurgence for the guitarist. In addition to the new album, the three studio albums from the Jimi Hendrix Experience will be re-issued as well as the 1997 album First Rays of the Rising Sun. There will also be the re-release of the 1969 compilation Smash Hits and, to top it all off, every re-issue will come with a documentary done by the Beatles Anthology director Bob Smeaton (via CoS).
The tracklisting for Valleys of Neptune is below. If you were never into Jimi Hendrix before then I suggest you use the month of March to jump on the bandwagon.
