Johnny Cash American VI album out in February

One of the true badasses of music, Johnny Cash, passed away a few years back but that doesn’t mean we don’t get new music from the Man in Black.

Pitchfork reports that February 26th will be the day that Cash’s album, American VI: Ain’t No Grave, hits the record stores and you already know it’s gonna be a good one. Cash’s American recordings were done under Rick Rubin’s American label and showed the darker, acoustic side of the singer/songwriter (his NIN cover of “Hurt” is all you need to hear). The first of these recordings was done back in 1994.

Songs on Ain’t No Grave will include covers from Kris Kristofferson, Sheryl Crow, Bob Nolan and others as well as a Cash original entitled “I Corinthians: 15:55″. Backing musicians on the album include the Avett Brothers, Matt Sweeney and Smokey Hormel.

Looks like The Man will come around one more time and leave us stunned.
