R.I.P. Jay Reatard

What started as a rumor has now been confirmed. Jay Lindsey aka Jay Reatard was found dead at his home. He was 29 years old.
Memphis, TN Goner Records, which was once the label home of Reatard, posted the following message on their website:
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. Jay died in his sleep last night. We will pass along information about funeral arrangements when they are made public.
Reatard had just released his new album, Watch Me Fall, in the summer of 2009. He had been recording ever since he was 15-years-old and started recording with The Reatards in the late 90′s. It was in 2006 when he released his album Blood Visions under the name Jay Reatard.
Matador Records signed him in 2008 and they also commented on his death when they said the following:
We are devastated by the death of Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., aka Jay Reatard. Jay was as full of life as anyone we’ve ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly.
Rest in Peace, Jay. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
