Duff McKagan in Jane’s Addiction?

So I saw this rumor a few days back and posted it on my Twitter page but apparently this story is picking up steam. My boys over at Antiquiet are reporting that former GnR/Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan may team up with Jane’s Addiction since their original bassist Eric Avery will not take part in writing new music.

JA fansite xiola.org first caught wind of some tweets posted by frontman Perry Ferrell. “David, Stephen, and I with new writing partner, went into the garage. Felt like old days, except no cassette recorder. Crafting w/Protools.”

This led to speculation as to who exactly was this mystery fourth writer. After a bit more digging by the website the name Duff McKagan rose to the top.

There’s still no word as to whether this is true or not. But if Duff does indeed join forces with Perry, Dave and Stephen then can Jane’s Addiction be called a “supergroup”? Hmmm…
