White Stripes claim copyright infringement against the Air Force

This court will now come to order in the case of The White Stripes vs. the United States Air Force.

That’s what may be said in a court of law if Jack White goes through with the claim. The Third Man master has called out the Air Force Reserve for allegedly taking the song “Fell In Love With A Girl” and re-recording it for music they used in a Super Bowl ad (via TwentyFourBit).

Third Man Records issued the following statement:

We believe our song was re-recorded and used without permission of the White Stripes, our publishers, label or management.

The White Stripes take strong insult and objection to the Air Force Reserve’s presenting this advertisement with the implication that we licensed one of our songs to encourage recruitment during a war that we do not support.

We have not licensed our song to the Air Force Reserve and we plan to take strong action to stop the ad containing this music.

We’ll let you be the judge. Check out the Air Force Reserve ad here and then watch the video for the actual song below. We’re siding with Jack on this one.
