Vampire Weekend – “Giving Up The Gun”
Ummm…ok? That was my first thought when I saw the lineup of people starring in Vampire Weekend’s new video for their song (and my personal fave from the new album Contra) “Giving Up The Gun”.
Up top, the video features a bevy of celebrities including Jake Gyllenhaal, Wu-Tang’s RZA, rapper Lil’ Jon and Jonas Bro Joe Jonas (there’s a name I never thought would show up on this site). Now what are these celebs doing while VW plays their new song in the background? Play tennis, of course.
Jonas and Gyllenhaal go up against friend of the band “Jenny” while RZA is a line judge that looks like an extra from The Matrix. Lil’ Jon gives tennis tips while being subtitled in French and this video is a nutty one. You may have to watch it a few times to catch the little things in the background but apparently this is Vampire Weekend’s vision of the future.
We will all play tennis in a virtual world and get tips on our forehand swing from a crunk master.
