The Hold Steady announce new album

Craig Finn and his merry band of indie-rock miscreants known as the Hold Steady are releasing a brand new album for the world to hear called Heaven Is Whenever on May 4th.
Consequence Of Sound reports that the album was primarily recorded in New York between Dreamland Recording Studios in upstate NY and Wild Arctic Studios in Queens, NY.
Finn talked about what this new album was all about. According to him, it’s about “embracing suffering and finding reward in our everyday lives.” The band also road tested these songs so that they could “see what was working and what wasn’t,” said Finn. “I believe this record benefits from us working at a more deliberate pace.”
Even though keyboardist Franz Nicolay left the band for solo pastures, the Hold Steady are offering up ten songs on the brand new LP for our auditory pleasure. Apparently the guitar is the instrument that takes center stage on this record while the keys and piano are more background. Here’s hoping that the band sticks to their rowdy bar band roots and doesn’t go too indie-rock.
