Ray Davies collabs with The Killers, Bruce Springsteen

For anyone hoping that Kinks frontman Ray Davies is getting the band back together for a reunion can continue praying for that day. In the meantime, however, Davies is putting together a new album featuring other rock stars including the Killers and Bruce Springsteen.
TwentyFourBit reports (via NJ.com) that the singer has been working on reworking some Kinks classic tunes and has enlisted the help of NJ rockers Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi.
Davies and the Boss worked on the song “Better Things” after three hours of jamming. Bon Jovi has added his touch to the song “Celluloid Heroes”. Other songs have been reworked by artists including The Killers, Lucinda Williams and, possibly, Metallica.
This whole idea was spawned at the 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert in NYC last year. Davies jammed with Metallica to the Kinks song “All Day And All Of The Night”. Afterwards, Davies talked about wanting to jam with other bands.
I might talk to [Metallica] about doing a song, it was an unexpected liaison the other week (at the Rock Hall benefit) but I listen to their music and I think we could do a quite interesting collaboration. Also I chatted with Bruce Springsteen at the thing and he’s up for trying it. I want it to be diverse and interesting, not the obvious things and hopefully stretch the artists and get them to do things that either that they wouldn’t have thought of or in some case that I wouldn’t have thought of. I’d like it to be truly collaborative. (via CoS)
The album is hopefully coming out at the end of this year. You think Van Halen will come back to do this song again?
