Brian Eno working with Coldplay on new album

Coldplay’s Chris Martin exclaimed that he hopes the band’s next album will be out by Christmas. Furthering that possibility is the return of producer Brian Eno who is confirmed to be working with the band on their fifth album.
Eno, who worked with Coldplay on Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, said in an interview with BBC 6 Music that he wants to force Martin to work separately from the rest of the band. He did this during the recording of the last album as well.
“It’s not rocket science, and it’s not Svengali-ism either,” Eno said. “It’s not some attempt to subvert the band, but just to see what other possibilities are lurking within them that might not come out within their normal working situations.”
As for the new material the band is recording, Eno said, “It’s quite different from anything they’ve done before, I think, so far anyway. I don’t know how it will end up being, but it’s very fresh.”
