Rock Band 3 is out this winter

If you’ve already mastered the songs on Rock Band 2 and you’ve conquered all the track-packs and special versions of the game, then you’ll be interested to know that you have a new challenge coming this winter.

Just in time for the holiday season, Rock Band 3 will make its way into stores. A message on the official Rock Band facebook page said the following about the new game:

Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!

No other details about the game, including tracklisting or the actual release date, were revealed. We do know that Harmonix is planning on releasing Green Day: Rock Band this year as well. Plus, with it being the 40th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix’s death, you can be sure that there will be a few songs from the master axeman in the third installment.

Start making your Christmas lists from now, boys and girls. Santa has a lot of plastic guitars to make.
