Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke releasing solo album

Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke is trying to stay productive during his band’s hiatus by releasing his first solo album.
The solo record is entitled The Boxer and it’s in record stores on June 21st (via TwentyFourBit). The single is called “Tenderoni” and it’ll be out on June 14.
But don’t get excited about the possibility that Okereke’s new album means more Bloc Party sounding music. He spoke with NME and talked about the direction of his own music.
“I’ve been into clubbing for years,” he said. “I’ve said from the beginning I’m into dance, it gets me excited and I think this record is going to go some way to prove that to people, hopefully.”
This should make sense considering Bloc Party’s last album, Intimacy, definitely leaned towards more of a electronic/dance feel. So let’s see what Kele has got in store for us when he’s on his own.
The Boxer tracklist:
Walk Tall
On The Lam
Tenderoni
The Other Side
Everything You Wanted
New Rules
Unholy Thoughts
Rise
All The Things I Could Never Say
Yesterday’s Gone
