Blur releasing a brand new single

Hey! Didja hear the news? Blur is releasing a brand new single! Granted, it took them seven years but they’re still releasing it.
The holiday known as Record Store Day, which is April 17th, is making a big splash with music lovers everywhere. This is the day that bands release exclusive material that you can only buy at participating indie record stores. Everyone from Them Crooked Vultures to The Beatles are getting in on the act and Blur is no different.
The Guardian (via CoS) reports that Damon Albarn and the Blur boys plan to record one song exclusively for Record Store Day. So far there’s no name or any other info about the track except that there will only be 1,000 copies of the limited edition 7″ available exclusively in the U.K.
“We want independent record stores to continue,” said Albarn. “They’re an important part of our musical culture. Music is a simple way for Blur to show our support and we hope people like it.”
Sadly, there are no plans for Blur to record any other new material. Damon’s a busy guy what with Gorillaz currently touring but you never know what may happen in the future. Here’s hoping.
