Roger Waters is taking The Wall on tour

The Wall by Pink Floyd is considered to be one of the best rock music albums ever made. So you can only imagine how excited I am over the fact that Roger Waters is taking all of those songs on tour later this year.

It was recently announced that Waters (no one else from Floyd) will go on a 50-date tour of North America and play the epic album in its entirety at every single stop (via CoS). So far only 35 dates have revealed. The first show takes place on September 15th in Toronto, ON

Waters explained to Spinner why he was taking the album back on the road.

“30 Years ago when I wrote ‘The Wall’ I was a frightened young man,” he said. “Well, not that young — I was 36 years old. It took me a long time to get over my fears. Anyway, in the intervening years it has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with it’s concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, whatever! All these issues and ‘isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life.

“This new production of The Wall is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to all the innocent lost in the intervening years.”

There’s no word as to whether this tour will have a giant wall built on stage as the show progresses. But you can be sure that this is one show you will definitely have to see, whether you’re a Roger Waters fan or not. Tickets aren’t on sale yet but when they are, we’ll let you know so you can get your hands on as many as you can.
