My guess is Bono wasn’t smiling like he is in the picture when he had to undergo emergency back surgery recently.

The U2 frontman/replacement for Jesus hurt his back while training for the band’s upcoming summer tour which includes a headlining spot at Glastonbury (via CoS). But now, due to the surgery, some of U2′s dates may be moved around or not happen at all.

U2′s website posted a statement regarding Bono’s current condition. “He was admitted to a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neuro surgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr Muller Wohlfahrt. Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate. Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates.”

So far we know that their June 3rd show in Salt Lake City, UT has been canceled. The rest of their tour dates are listed below. We’ll update them as soon as we get more info.
