Russian town trying to ban heavy metal concerts

A little town in Russia, known for fining people for public swearing and taking a stand against Valentine’s Day, is now trying to ban heavy metal concerts from happening in their clubs due to it’s “satanic” image.

The town of Belgorod, which is around 400 miles south of Moscow, recently started a campaign by writing to club and restaurant owners asking them to not put on heavy metal concerts. Local official Vladimir Shatilo seemed clueless as to why he was doing this but planned on staying the course.

“I am not familiar with such music myself but we have been asked to head off any satanic activity,” Shatilo said. Spoken like a truly ignorant asshole.

Another official spoke out against heavy metal saying that, “The parents of youngsters who attended such events would never forgive us for (allowing) the performances of people interested in satanic ideology.” However all is not lost for the town of Belgorod.

Some club owners are refusing to comply with this campaign. Oleg Proskokov (whose name even sounds heavy metal) is a club owner who said he plans on holding more rock events in the future and anyone who tried to stop him would receive a hearty “punch in the face.” Well done, sir!

Here’s hoping that metal doesn’t die in this Russian town that no one’s ever heard of. Because if you take away the music from the fans, they can get a bit rowdy. Or so I’ve heard.
