We like rock music more than you. It's just the way it is…

Bono and his merry men were all set to come to the North American hemisphere of the globe this summer to perform for hundreds of thousands of fans whilst inside their giant claw spaceship. But now, due to Bono’s recent back surgery, all the North American dates have been put on hold.



At U2′s website, a statement was posted confirming that their shows from June 3rd in Salt Lake City to July 19th at New Jersey’s New Meadowland Stadium have been “postponed” and livenation promoters are working to reschedule those dates.

Paul McGuinness, the band’s manager, released a statement apologizing on the band’s behalf. “Our biggest and I believe best tour has been interrupted and we’re all devastated. For a performer who lives to be on stage, this is more than a blow. He feels robbed of the chance to do what he does best and feels like he has badly let down the band and their audience. Which is of course nonsense. His concerns about more than a million ticket buyers whose plans have been turned upside down, we all share, but the most important thing right now is that Bono make a full recovery. We’re working as fast as we can with Live Nation to reschedule these dates.”

Also the band’s appearance at the Glastonbury festival in the U.K on June 25th has been canceled. So far no one has been named as their replacement but the rumor is that Coldplay will play in U2′s stead.

U2 will begin touring on August 6th with a show in Turin, Italy and play all the way through October with a final show in Rome. So the europeans will still get their U2 fix while us North Americans have to wait a little while longer.
