Gorillaz replacing U2 at Glastonbury

“It was us or The Beatles and they split up years ago. The previous soldiers got pulled from duty last minute so it’s up to my Plastic Beach naval cavalry to sail in and sort the battlefield out. I can assure you though, I’m bringing extra troops. Loads of them. Glastonbury will be ours… cutlasses drawn, trumpets ready. We’re coming…” – Murdoc Niccals of Gorillaz.
After the news that U2 would be canceling their headlining show at the Glastonbury festival due to Bono’s recent back surgery, it was announced by festival director Michael Eavis that Gorillaz would step in to take their place on June 25th.
“This is going to be Gorillaz’ only UK festival appearance, and it’ll be a massive audio-visual spectacle which will really ignite the Pyramid [stage] on the Friday night, with Muse then Stevie Wonder to follow,” Eavis said.
He added, “I’m very excited about Gorillaz’ show coming here because they’re so open to guests and collaborations. The alchemy of Friday’s show is going to be astonishing: a perfect, contemporary way to kick off the 40th anniversary celebrations. I am so grateful for the enthusiasm of the media and the whole of the music industry for their willingness and eagerness to support us in what could have been a crisis.”
The news was announced at Glastonbury’s official website earlier today. So if you were a bit down about not getting to see U2, hopefully your spirits are picked back up knowing you get to see Damon Albarn, a ton of collaborators and animated primates rocking out on a giant screen. I’d say it’s a fair trade.

Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people think about worries that they plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
