Coldplay’s new album to have “killer tunes”
Coldplay are nearing completion on their upcoming fifth album and, according to a blog post on their website, it’s got some “killer tunes.”

Those aren’t exactly the words I would use to describe Coldplay’s music. I would have gone with “pretty tunes” or “songs of an anthemic nature” or even “new tracks for Jay-Z to rap over”. But the band went with “killer tunes” so that’s gonna be the headline.
The post said that the band has a list of songs and they’re starting to have “verses, choruses, riffs, lyrics and so on. These are the raw materials, though. Unrefined and rough, this is the record’s skin and bones, if you will.” Producer Brian Eno does make his appearance in the studio but often times leaves the band to work on the record themselves. When the band find themselves to be stuck on something they’ll “think of something that he would say and apply it, getting them ‘over the hump’.”
Currently, the band is on a break for a few weeks before getting back into the studio to finish the album. No release date or track listing has been set yet but the songs, according to the site, “haven’t assumed their final beautiful form yet, but they’re a very long way from their skin and bones phase.” Wow, even their blog posts sound pretty.
