RiO! Band of the Week – The McLovins
From what I remember when I was 15 years old was that if you were a high school kid that listened to jam bands like Phish and Grateful Dead, you were a weird kid that always wore tye-dye shirts, never combed your hair and really liked the color green. But our RiO! Band of the Week is taking the high school jam band fan to a whole new level.
The McLovins, named after a character whose name will never leave our lexicon, are three kids that are all 15 or 16 years old and can jam with the best of them. Hailing from Hartford, CT, these guys have already played the 2010 Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY which featured headliners like Gov’t Mule, Levon Helm, Warren Haynes and more. Has your band played a festival yet? I’m guessing no.
Their music is right on point as well. Tight musicianship and great rhythms equal songs you won’t believe were written by kids that age. Head over to their to be amazed by their songs and to check out when they’re playing next. It’s a show you might want to see for yourself.
