Breaking Benjamin don’t break up

Benjamin has officially been broken up. The only band I know of to call Wilkes-Barre, PA home has called it a day.

Tunelab.com reports that singer Benjamin Burnley told the band a couple weeks ago that he was quitting music and they should seek new employment. So far, the band’s camp is claiming they’re “on hiatus” (I hate that fucking term) and are trying to convince Burnley to stick around and replace the other members of the band later this year.

Burnley has two solo acoustic shows this coming July and no word has been released regarding how this may impact the performances. The band’s website, ShallowBay.com, will be shutting down this August regardless of whether Burnley returns to the band or not.

Looks like another band bites the dust. It’s a shame too because, among the many same-sounding modern rock bands, I actually liked these guys. Hopefully, if you’re reading this, you weren’t too big of a fan because your world was just crushed. Sorry.

UPDATE: So it looks like it was all just a bunch of malarkey. Singer Ben Burnley released a statement today saying the band breaking up was all a giant rumor. The only thing he’s got on his plate right now are some health issues he has to clear up. So you can all breathe easy now…and for goodness sakes put down that hangman’s noose!

Where has this been stated as official. Everyone else I’ve looked says the cancellation of shows is truely because of illness and people are overreacting. I am reall crushed as BB is my fav band, if this turns out not to be true and you gave me a heart attack for no reason i will high five your face.

@Dan thats because back in 2007 Ben had health problems and thats what led to the cancellation of shows. Again…That was back in 2007. We are in 2010 now.

TAKE THIS DOWN. Ben just confirmed on the band’s facebook page that the band is not breaking up. Use a more creditable source and your high five to the face will be in the mail. Everyone can breathe easy, BB lives on.

I can say with knowledge that the band is seperating….the original members of “Lifer” the band that Breaking Benjamin spawned from are getting back together. It is unclear if BB will be done forever, or just until the Lifer reunion is through. My source is a friend of the band and very much into the rock scene up here in Wilkes-Barre.

This is crushing for me too, but a lot of folks around here(wilkes-barre) know that the band has not been too friendly with each other. Ben himself rides in his own motorhome, has confirmed to people he wants to stop play guitar in the band, and has been really a pain in the ass.

You have no idea what you are talking about Slick. They are not breaking up, thank god, but he’s dealing with a lifelong sickness. Thankfully they will stay together. It’s my favorite band and not many bands these days can make multiple albums where every song ROCKS.
