Portishead begin work on their 4th album this summer
A bit of news for all the Portishead fans out there. You’ll be happy to know that the ‘head’s own Geoff Barrow recently spoke to BBC Radio at the Glastonbury festival this past weekend and said that the band is starting work on their fourth album this summer.
reports that the band has finally started work on the follow up to their third album, appropriately entitled Third, and Barrow said that it won’t take forever for them to release. “It’ll be an awful lot quicker, because we should be older and wiser.”
He also revealed that Portishead has signed a deal with “the biggest record company in the world.” But before you yahoos start screaming “sellouts!” from the rafters you should know that the band signed “with people we really trust…they’ve said that we could do what we want.”
No release date or any other info about the new album has been released other than they will release a proper album and not go down the route of individual singles or EP’s being distributed online. Barrow said that the fans would want an album “and that’s what we’ll give them.” You can check out his interview with the BBC down below.
