New Strokes album now coming in March 2011
You guys remember when the new Strokes album was coming out in September? That was exciting, wasn’t it? Then remember when Julian Casablancas said it would be out in January of 2011? I mean, that kinda sucked, but whatever it’s not so bad. Now, I believe Julian is seriously trying to fuck with us.
Casablancas spoke to BBC 6 Music (via Gigwise) and said that the new album is only “halfway done” and predicted it’ll be out in March of 2011. He added that “we keep thinking, ‘OK, we’ll do it, for like these three weeks and then we’ll be done.’ And then we do it and we decide that we’re not done, or something comes in the way.”
Having already played shows in the UK and with giant shows like Lollapalooza and Outside Lands coming up on the band’s schedule, here’s hoping that eventually they start to preview some new tunes for the already anxious crowds. Because when that anxiousness turns to frustration, there’s no wiggle room for mistake on that album. Fans will eat you alive for making them wait that long.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t make any more predictions in future interviews because the way it’s going, he’ll predict that album right in 2014.
